Thread: Problems with installing of java runtime environment?

Hi,

I'm trying to install java on my pc, so my girlfriend can play those games of msn, but when I try to install at the end I get this:

bin\appletviewer.exe: Old file not found.However, a file of the same name was found.No updates done since file contents does not match.

If it's not bin\appletviewer.exe, then it's bin\java.exe. If it changes, then I did it with another update. I really don't get it, because the same program I used, my brother also installed it on his pc and works just fine. I have the newest update and 2 old ones and same sad story

Have you referred to their page for troubleshooting?

You may have to uninstall any older versions on there first.

The thing is, i don't even have older versions. It was the first time that I wanted to install it and I didn't do anything, except give me those errors.

provide the suggestion for this problem as iam unable to install the java in my system i.e windows xp sp2 professional

I just ran a search in their forum and I found 3 replies. I have the same problem those guys have and I allready did those things. So I'll give it another try and will keep postin if there are any changes.

it didn't work at all. On the java forum they said that I needed to uninstall the program, search for all java files containing bin:\java.exe and bin:\appletviewer.exe, delete them. Fix errors of your harddrives, restart and install again. First time, I had the same problem. Nothing changed. The second time, I installed it on another disk and was starting to get hope, because it did the same stuff like it did on my brothers computer, but my ad-watch blocked it and then did the same thing again. Third time I tried, nothing happend. I'm really getting frustrated right now:met:

Hi, thanks for the returning coments and advises, but sadly I had to redo the machine. The weird part about it was that this time, there were no problems. So I asked someone what the problem could've been and since I had done everything he asked, he asked me if I updated the windows security. And he said that maybe that would've been my problem. The new updates searches the system if it's an original copy and since I've been using a copy, it locked most of my settings. Wel now I did e fresh a start so, I'll be getting my d-loads on haha.
