Thread: SPB Shell 3 or Wisbar Advanced Desktop (latest)

Hello all,

Am fairly new to the Pocket PC scene. Wanted to start a thread on shells or interfaces for PPC and what people think are the best ones and why.

I have found SPB Shell to be the best looking, but, does consume the most RAM on the Omnia as it should be installed in the 'My Device' part of the phone.

What do others think is the best shell for a PPC and why? What is the difference between SPB Shell 3 and Wisbar Advanced Desktop? Both look nice, but which is more practical and more powerful/stable to use? I have only used SPB Shell 3 and it is, for the most part, stable.

spb shell is a powerfull software for ppc, very nice and easy to use. the interface also good! i'm no meet any problems when install spb shell on my HTC touch cruise. can i know what model ppc you are? and the windows version you know? some software cannot sopport for older version winCE.

Spb Mobile shell 3 is a memory hog. Try using version 2 which is more fast and not so confusing like version 3. Just give it a shot.

Please also note that while wisbar is more configurable than mobile shell.. it is an art to reach the level of "finishing" that spb has built in.

SPB shell 3.5 is really sluggish though. They need to do some work on quality

Yeah mobile shell 3.5 kinda grinds to a halt on my touch pro every now and then.
the other thing it does is not display caller id stuff till after I hang up
which is kinda stoopid if ya wanna know who is calling b4 ya answer.
tho a reinstall did fix this.

i have tried both spb shell and wisbar. for me the wisbar is too much hassle and the spb shell 3.5. build 9593 works very well on my htc touch pro.
