15 Minutes Long Hands on Demo of Nokia N97 at CTIA '09

Matthew Bennett from Nokia Daily News and tnkgrl’s Myriam Joire gave us a whooping 15 minute long walkthrough the Nokia N97’s software, hardware, greatly improved and highly customized active standby screen, widgets implementation, demo of the new version of the web browser version with kinetic scrolling and much more.
Nokia’s Julien Fourgeaud has done a great job of presenting this powerful device that offers the best of both worlds, an awesome touch sensitive screen, and the full size QWERTY keyboard packed into complex tilt-slide-out form factor that instantly transforms phone into mini laptop with a QWERTY keyboard and the huge high-definition screen. The hardware architecture is still mystery unfortunately and all we have at the moment is the ongoing rumour over at forum section about the OMAP 3 chipset!!! Yeah you read it right, apparently there is a little chip with well known Texas Instruments’ logo but we are not quite sure if it is OMAP or something else!?!
First of all, I really, really, really want the N97 in white - hopefully, Molly Schonthal (angel of all things Nokia) can hook me up when the time comes, please, please, please! It just looks so incredibly hot in white…
Compared to the 5800 XpressMusic, and beyond the hardware differences, the software on the N97 adds kinetic scrolling, two standby screens (one with widgets, like FaceBook and Bloomberg), and lots of other improvements highlighted in the video.
Despite the being resistive on the N97 (vs. capacitive on the Omnia HD), the touchscreen is extremely responsive. This, combined with the hardware keyboard, makes for a great user experience - I can’t wait to get my hands on the final product
