Hi all,
I am a fan of SE UIQ3 models. Not becos of the features! but the urge to Mod them! But whenever we are experimenting there is a chance that we end up messin up the softwares! ( as i did twice) and go for SE software update! ( a head banging experience) I want to know from my senior members..the following.. 1. Can we RESTORE the software to the defaults easily? and how? i did made a COPY of all contents of C drive to the memory stick and tried to copy them to C drive and restore. But some how i couldnt. i used CAPSWITCH and Swiss Manager Pro. In my case i used the MOD "Vista Inspirat Visual styles" and when i wanted to restore..i accidentally deleted some system files where in i ended up loosin the VOLUME controle! ( using jog dial.the Phone gave me error message sayin tht some dump files were created. Please instruct me how to restore. 2. Instead of doin the software update using the SE Update service..can we do the update by directly downloading the softwares frm somewhere else? and store in the PC so that QUICKLY we can update the Phone? 3.Can we have a software for UIQ3 which is like "SYSTEM RESTORE" as in PCs? restoring the Phone to some earlier date? PLEASE LOOK INTO THESE AND PLEASE TAKE TIME TO REPLY ME!. THANKS IN ADVANCE! I congratulate all senior members who contributed to this software community and also mankind. I pray for them. ab438_617 at yahoo dot com is my mail. |

I can only answer the first question, because it happened to me yesterday.
Master reset won't do anything, so the only option, other than flashing, which i've never done, is to format the internal memory. To do this get to the service menu, at the standby screen, scroll the jog dial up, press *, jog dial down, and down again, * and then jog down and *. You can choose the format. The phone just gets the files off the Z drive again. I believe it still retains the firmware you last installed [verify?]. I also find that this is the best time to mod the phone as swiss man seems to work better. |
