Image Converter [Freeware] ![]() The primary intent of this UIQ 3 application example is to show conversion of images using the Image conversion library (ICL). Images can be loaded and stored to files in any image format supported by the phone. The application also shows how to rotate a loaded image. Use the menu commands to load and save images, click on a loaded image to rotate it 90 degrees.

Simple Text Editor ![]() The following example application implements a small text editor, which may be useful when developing and testing applications on a UIQ 3-based phone. Text files may be directly read and edited using this developer tool. The editor is especially useful when using the M600 or P990 phones, since the phone keyboard makes it very easy to edit text directly on the phone without having to use a PC to edit the file.

AppStart ![]() The Sony Ericsson Developer World Technical Support team is often asked questions about how it is possible to launch applications from your own UIQ 3 app. There are several ways of achieving this. One of the most simple approaches is to use the QikFileUtils class and simply call StartAppL() passing in the UID of the application that is about to be launched. Attached is a very simple application that lists all apps (control panel apps are not included). Tapping on any of the apps will simply launch them. There is of course a drawback with using such a simple way of launching. Let's say you would like to launch a certain view for a certain application which is not possible to achieve through this method. Instead use the CCoeAppUi::ActivateViewL() function. This article demonstrates the following functionality:[list][*]setup a connection with the application architecture server[*]how to get the name and UID for any app[*]how to launch any application from within your own app
