    These are instructions on how to use the new Voice Control feature on the iPhone 3G S.




    VOICE CONTROL BASICS

    To activate Voice Control press and hold the Home button until the Voice Control screen appears on screen.

    Call a Contact From Your Address Book
    Say Call or Dial then say the name of the person. If the contact has more then one number you can follow up with the type of number. For example, say Call George Mobile.


    Dial a Number
    Say Call or Dial then say the number. For example, say Call 1 800 123 4567.


    Make a Correction
    If the Voice Control system got your command wrong you can make a correction by saying Wrong, Not That One, Not That, No, or Nope


    Control Music Playback
    You can use the Voice Control feature to control your iPod.
    - To start playing say, Play or Play Music.
    - To pause playing say, Pause or Pause Music
    - To navigate through songs say Next Song and Previous Song

    To specify what music to play you can use these commands:
    - Play Album then the name of the album
    - Play Artist then the name of the artist
    - Play Playlist then the name of the playlist

    To shuffle the current playlist simply say Shuffle

    If you would like to find out more about whats playing you can say,
    - What's Playing
    - What Song is This
    - Who Sings This Song
    - Who is This Song By

    If you would like to use the Genius feature to find similar songs say,
    - Genius Play More Like This
    - Genius Play More Songs Like This


    Cancel Voice Control
    To cancel Voice Control simply say, Cancel



    HOW TO SET VOICE CONTROL LANGUAGE
    To change the language used by Voice Control follow these steps.

    Press to select Settings from your iPhone SpringBoard.

    These are instructions on how to record and share video with your iPhone 3G S device.


    Step One
    Press to launch the Camera app from your iPhone SpringBoard.

    Move the slider at the bottom right of the screen to select Movie mode.

    Step Three
    Press the screen to select the object you would like to focus on then tap the record button.

    Step Four
    Notice that a record timer will appear and the record light will start flashing. Press the record button again to stop recording.

    Step Five
    Once finished recording to view your recorded video simply press the thumbnail at the bottom left of the screen.

    Step Six
    Press the large play button in the center of the screen to view the video recorded.

    Step Seven
    Notice the scrub bar at the top of screen. You can drag the scrubber from to skip through the video.

    Step Eight
    Drag the handles at the left and right of the scrub bar to set in and out points for the clip. You can then press the Trim button to trim the video.

    Step Nine
    To share the video with a friend press the Share icon at the bottom left of the screen.

    From the popup menu you can choose to share the clip via Email, MMS, MobileMe, or YouTube

    COPY
    To copy text to the clipboard double tap on a piece of text to bring up the bubble menu. Drag the blue handles that appear to extend your selection then press the Copy button.

    To copy an image to the clipboard you can tap and hold a thumbnail to bring up the bubble menu then press the Copy button.

    To copy multiple photos to the clipboard. Press the send icon at the bottom left of the screen then tap to select a few images. Press the Copy button at the bottom of the screen to copy them to the clipboard.

    To copy text from Safari to the clipboard press and hold a block of text to bring up the bubble menu. Drag the blue handles to extend your selection then press the Copy button.

    CUT
    To cut text (copy to clipboard then remove) double tab to bring up the bubble menu. Drag the blue handles to extend your selection then press the Cut button.

    SELECT ALL
    To select all text in a form tap, hold, then release to bring up the bubble menu. Press the Select All button to highlight all the text available.

    PASTE
    To paste the text or images in your clipboard simply double tap to bring up the bubble menu then press the Paste button.

    To undo your last paste shake your iphone to bring a popup menu where you can press the large Undo Paste button.

    How to Create iPhone Voice Memos [iPhone OS 3.0]






    This is a basic demonstration/tutorial on how use the new iPhone Voice Memo application in iPhone OS 3.0. If you are not a developer you will likely not have access to this iPhone application until June 2009.



    Step One
    Press to launch the new Voice Memos application from the Springboard

    Step Two
    When the voice memo app opens you will see a microphone and a VU meter. At the bottom left there is a red record button. At the bottom right there is a list button.

    To record a new voice memo press the Record button.

    Step Three
    You will see a status bar along the top display the elapsed time.

    You can use the Pause button at the bottom left of the screen to pause then restart recording. Once you are done recording your voice memo press the Stop button at the bottom right of the screen.

    Step Four
    Press the list button at the bottom right to view your previously recorded memos.

    Step Five
    Your previously recorded memos will be ordered by the time recorded. You can also see the duration and date of each memo.

    Press to select a memo for playback. You can use the Speaker button at the top left to listen to memo over the loud speakers.

    Step Six
    To share a memo with a friend press the Share button at the bottom of the screen.

    Press the large Email Voice Memo button to open a new Mail message with the memo attached as a m4a audio file.

    Step Seven
    From the Voice Memo list you can also use the delete button at the bottom of the screen to delete a voice memo. Press the large Delete Voice Memo button to confirm the deletion.

    Step Eight
    To view more information about the memo you can press the blue circular arrow button to its right

    From the Info window you can label, trim and share the memo.

    Step Nine
    Press the large button at the top which shows the time and duration of the recording.

    This will open the Label screen where you can select a previously defined label or create your own. Press custom to give the memo your own label.

    Once you have entered a name for your memo press the Label button at the top left. Then press the Info button at the top left to return to the memo details screen.

    Step Ten
    To trim the recording click the Trim Memo button. You will see a blue progress bar with a yellow handle on the left and on the right. Drag the handles to set the start and end of the clip. Press the play button to confirm it sounds ok then press the large Trim Voice Memo to finalize your cut.

    Step Eleven
    You can also use the Share button to send the memo just as we demonstrated in Step Six.

    Step One
    Press to select Cydia from your Springboard.

    How to Check Your iPhone Bootloader Version (Windows)




    These are instructions on how to find your iPhone Bootloader version using BBUpdaterExtreme and Windows. You can use these instructions to determine if an unlock is possible on an accidentally upgraded iPhone 3G. Currently only iPhones with bootloader 5.08 will be able to downgrade their baseband for the unlock.

    Before you begin please have MobileTerminal and OpenSSH installed from Cydia. You can find MobileTerminal in the Terminal Support section of Cydia. For instructions on how to install an application from Cydia you can use this tutorial.

    You will also need WinSCP installed you can find it [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]


    Step One
    Download BBUpdaterExtreme from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and save it to your desktop.

    Step Two
    Launch the WinSCP application from your Start Menu programs.

    Step Three
    Make sure you iPhone is connected to the same wireless network as your computer and determine its IP Address using [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] instructions.

    Step Four
    WinSCP will ask you to input your login information. Enter the IP Address you just retrieved in Step Three as the Host Name, root as the username and alpine as the password. Click the Login button to continue.

    If prompted to add the host key to the cache click the Yes button.

    Step Five
    WinSCP will now display two file trees. The one on the left is your local computer and the one on the right is your iPhone.

    Navigate to your desktop using the left file tree and navigate to the /bin directory using the right file tree.

    Step Six
    Drag the BBUpdateExtreme file from the left panel to the right panel.

    Select Open Terminal from the Commands menu.

    Input the following commands into the Terminal window and click the Execute button after each.

    cd /bin

    launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

    Your iPhone will now loose its network connections. Launch Mobile Terminal from the iPhone SpringBoard.

    These are instructions on how to find your iPhone Bootloader version using BBUpdaterExtreme. You can use these instructions to determine if an unlock is possible on an accidentally upgraded iPhone 3G.
