Thread: iphone 3g stuck in headphone mode

I have the 16gb 3g model and its stuck in headphone mode all the time. Have changed both the headphone speaker cable and the mic cable but still no luck. if i try the mainboard from another iphone it works fine so it looks like there is an issue on the mainboard. Can anyone suggest what needs to be done to rectify this issue??? which ic's do i need to look at???
Have tried reinstalling the software 2.2 but still no luck.

I would suggest you to look at the headphone connector, if it has been bent out of its solder with a hearphone jack in it(pretty common I guess), the iPhone probably thinks there's still a hearphone jack plugged in. Other than that, I dunno.

as mentioned earlier the problem lies on the main board as when i swapped this board onto another working iphone chassis it did the same thing and the working board worked fine in the faulty one.

And the audio connector isn't on the main board? Other than that, I really don't know. Doesen't sound it should be a problem with a component.

acd2005, I have the same problem. Nothing is working. I even just replaced the headphone jack and still no luck. I'm thinking it's in the motherboard as well. Did you ever get yours resolved?
