Thread: Garmin Mobile 10 (XT) s60 3rd - links dead

I followed the procedure in the initial post but when I clicked on th GMXT, it said something like " application can't start due to security reason". So I copied the GMXT file and pasted it on my desktop and installed it like I do for any other applications. But whenever I run the application it says "could not authenticate Garmin GPS hardware", "No GPS devices found. Try again?" I have N95.
I'm the only one having trouble getting this application to work? So far, installed and reinstall 4 times yet there is no fruitful result.

    Either
if you plug in Phone to USB yoou MUST have it set to DATA TRANSFER not P C Suite

or put card in card reader

Look at My Computer Icon to see if the card is listed as an extra drive

you will have something like C:\ your main hard disk D:\ your backup disk if fitted E:\ your CD or DVD the F:\ the name of your card

    OK

    Launch POI loader

Browse to your pois to load Save just them in one folder on your PC alltogether

Choose each ones warning as they load

Distance is better than the over the set speed for SPEED CAMERAS
REASON if you are in a say 40 limit doing 35 it would not warn you OK no prob you do not need warning
BUT you are in 40 zone doing 35 but accelerating away it wont warn you but if you have a faster car when you pass the camera you could be doing 45 WHOOPS offence
    sofar?

Make sure you have garmin POIs and NOT Tomtom pois (.ov2 files)
If you are not sure try this free app POIedit
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

it will convert all pois to and from others convert the TT one to garmin .csv files

You will se a box with the card name in it as poi loader runs chose your card and transfer

Job Done BUT safely remove card Bottom right corner of your task bar near clock OK

Now to test if you have them Launch GMXT on your phone
    aggree
Where To? keep scrolling down past my locations
    Extras (option 3)
    Custom POIs

You should NOW see your newley installed pois
    Job Done
but let us know please if it works

Right lets start again from scratch
Plug in your phone USB DATA TRANSFER MODE
go to MY computer LOOK to see if SD card shows as a drive
    click on it
go to garmin folder DELETE ( back it up if you prefer 1st)

create a new folder on your desktop or any where

    now go to
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
down load these 3 yes Three files
1 Garmin Mobile XT for sym S60
2 Garmin mobile free base map
3 Garmin mobile XT support thats the biggest

Now LOAD IN THAT ORDER They are self install files just duoble click

    sofar
next you need the files from the front page of this thread MAPs

You need the Key gen that stays on THE PC do not load into phone lol

you need sw.unl the unlock file

You need a map thats a .img file

    and you need gmapsupp.unl file

copy and paste or drag these to the Garmin folder you have on your card

    safely close restart phone

    open GMXT

run your key gen IF you have the .sw.unl file in the folder it will ask you if you want to register an esn number enter that number in keygen then enter the result on the key pad CLEAR the previuos number 1st with the c key like you would a sms text

Now restart gmxt go to setting
go to gps and select the internal gps
    Job done

I think you may be editing the .unl with notepad and saving it as a .txt

if you look at the properties for your unl it shuold be SW.UNL

if it is SW.UNL.TXT it WILL NOT WORK

to cure this you have to change yor PC you can change back after you need it to show file types

IF you get the sw.unl file off here DO NOT EDIT IT just copy to phone
and let the phone edit it when you run the prog
same with the gmap.unl dont edit it just copy it to garmin on card
again when you run prog it will say "do you want to unlock map with esn number
YES enter that number in key gen top line
    map id bottom line
enter code in in phone press C to clear whats there (highlighted in Green)

enter code like you would a sms message press done
as long as the 2 or 3 .unl files are in the garmin file on the phone
you can use the phone keypad which saves the prob of .unl.txt editing with notepad

if you .unl file has a blank icon it is ok if it has a notepad icon it will NOT WORK as the GMXT app can not read .txt files

lets see how you go with that

Ah that's what the problem was! :D

I had 1st set of maps as: GMAPPROM.IMG + GMAPSUPP.UNL! 2nd set of maps were labelled fine though, which is why they were working ok.

when i launch poiloader nothing happens except for a window pops up saying:
Welcome to POI Loader. This program will retrieve POIs from your data files and load them into your Garmin GPS or onto an SD card where your Garmin GPS can read it

there's no buttons or menus for me to select the POI file or my device. do you get this screen when you run the program?

maybe i'm having problems with my computer detecting the GPS...? mapsource can find the device fine, either by using the USB cable or memory card in my computer. however, neither POI loader nor gstart seems to be able to find my GPS..
