Actually you can play psx games on symbian now like Mortal Kombat 2, Mortal Kombat 3, Ultimate Mortal Kombat on PicoDrive emulator. Doom, Doom 2, Final Doom on C2Doom emulator, Worms World Party on Mophun Emulator, Duke Nukem 3D Atomic. These games were released on PSX.

We have to wait and see what the future will bring us people. just have patience and wait.... we all remember vbag when it was at it's first demo stage for a year ago. you coldn't play any games on it. now the emulator is working great. We have to wait for the symbian world to get greater and stronger phones soo that applications can be developed according to those.
that is just ignorant, you are saying the IPHONE is a better performer than my nokia n81 ?!?!¡!?¡ (god i hate iphone)

and helllloooooooooo look at quake 1, that thing runs BEAUTIFULLY, and that is on par with psx, also my old ass pocket pc (when it was still compaq) could run a psx emulator, so i believe it CAN be done. (wish i could do QUAKE 1 on landscape but that will be for another topic)

At the moment, if you're desparate to play PS1 games on the move, get yourself a PSP and flash it with custom firmware. I have a PSP with the 3.80 M33 firmware (which is the latest release) and I can play any PS1 game I can care to think of on the move. There's nothing quite like Final Fantasy VII on the bus or train... It's also pretty good on the homebrew stakes as well, although most things that you can do on the PSP can be done on the n95 anyway, apart from the PS1 stuff.

And another thing about PS1 on s60 3rd, how would all the buttons be mapped? If we're talking about the standard original PS1 controller, we have the 4 face buttons, 4 shoulder buttons, start, select and the d-pad. Let alone the Dual Shock controller... Where you have all that, plus another 2 buttons plus 2 analogue sticks. I just don't think you could fit it all on. Admittedly on the PSP the analogue stick takes up either L2 and R2, or L1 and R1 (your choice. It works by moving the stick left or right to hit the appropriate button, or up to hit both) and it doesn't have support for the dual-shock stuff. But it's much more appropriate at playing PS1 games than a phone keypad.

One thing the n95 would have in its favour for PS1 emulation is that the phone's screen is the right resolution to display PS1 games without either having to up or downscale the image.

did i ever say that Iphone is better than nokia?!?!?!.!

I have a nokia n95 and say personally say that this phone rules. iphone is just very unstable as it's new. iphone is really just something that looks like it was made to compete with ppc of windows but looks like people thinks that it's competing against Nokia...

n95 is really stable and can be overclocked to 520mhz..... the nokia phone is far better developed phone that iphone. nokia has symbian and the market of symbian is huge.

as i'm 100% symbian fan im going to stay with nokia for ever.....

p.s i also play quake 1,2,3 and doom on my phone and half life.... but if you guys want to know the wad games are just a remake and not exactly the same as those on the computer.

iphone is very new... developer caught their eyes on it and make emulators and applications for iphone as they see that iphone is going to be a hit in the future and iphones os isn't very restricted as symbian os... so if an application is made for iphone it will be 3 times more difficult to make it for symbian.. if you know what i mean... but after awhile i guess the iphone will be more restricted too..... i believe the iphone will be competing against windows mobile and symbian os....

hmm i really hope that some developer will make a psx emulator and i hope that the symbian world will get more developers that will make breakthroughs with big and great applications...

If you really want to play those old PSX games with shitty graphics, then buy a PSP and get a custom firmware on it, or even better, buy a PSX!!...lol!...if you have an N-GAGE 2.0 mobile phone, then why are you complaining like this?...the future games to be out for those phones are really awesome, so be patient...

and remind on quake. with FPU support. and DRC with Open gl es support. or the 3d benchmarks of 3dmark and gl benchmark. they all show that the new phones hasnt any problems to show us psx graphics. the time where mobiles was just mobiles are out of date.

and like i said i had an psx emu on my mda III. and the iso´s (not roms) were stored in the memory card. theres no problem.
When did I say it was impossble? ...and not all phones have FPU support...so, it doesnt mean that when you have symbian you can have everything...it also depends on the phone as well....a small example is the rotateMe app...

:p Great Inventor of "MSSR" :p

soo i think the conclusion is that you won't see psx on phones below s60v3 with 3d accelerators, FPU support... think we will only have a chance to see it on the biggest phone as n95 and soo forth and future phones... eventhough phones below have symbian doesn't mean it will work because it has to fulfill all the requirements as screen accelerator, sound and soo forth... ... ..

maybe we will see psx on symbian phones or maybe we wont....

at least i hope to see nintendo ds and nintendo 64...... hmm we all just have to wait and see...

I really hope all developers haven't given up on creating emulators...
