Ok i have had a play around with this app, here goes

The Upside :
It uses LAN (wi fi) or GPRS
You can send bluetooth text messages to any bluetooth enabled phone

The Downside
you can only send texts to people who have signed up to the service (you use contacts option to search or input your friends id :-(

I was able to send bluetooth text messages no problem, i got my partner to sign up and create an id, i wrote a text and sent to her id, yeah it arrived on her phone milli-seconds later.

So if you get your buddies to sign up, free texts are yours, the message i sent my partner said 'hello' and registered 615b of data, so yeah using gprs a text with over 200 characters will use approx 2kb of traffic, you can do the maths for more texts if you wish.
