Thread: gps issue

    Default gps issue

ok firstly i live in india and use vodafone connect as my gprs settings.

now the problem i am having is everytime i open an application that requires a gps signal i get a popup stating "network connection required. define access point to connect?" and when i click yes i have to choose between vodafone MMS and vodafone connect.. everytime the gprs connection is lost the popup comes again which is quite irritating especially while driving
now all i want is the phone to select vodafone connect automatically without popping up everytime.
if i go to settings - application settings - positioning - positioning methods and only select assisted gps and integrated gps then the popup stops but the phone wont use the network to get gps signal and hence takes very long to lock on gps postion.
i cant find my mms settings anywhere so i can delete it.
Anyone know the solution? or have the same problem?
    please help
    thanks

AGPS is required if you want a fast satellite fixing. Mms setting are in messages \options \ settings\mms.
If you dont have a gps integrated in your phone, you'll need always an internet connection and it will use the cell towers, it wont be accurate.
To give a java app an authomatic access go in your phone applications manager\ apps.install.\ options \ network access.
There you can choose among different options to give access to your application

i have the n8 so the positioning methods i have is
    1) assisted gps
    2) integrated gps
    3) bluetooth gps
    4) wi-fi/network
    5) network based.

i have 1,2,4,5 ticked. if i have only 1 and 2 ticked the pop up stops coming but the satellite fixing is very slow.

also i'm not talking about particular apps but every app that uses gps gives this annoying popup.

Download offline maps from the ovi center . Its better pop ups appear only at beginning and once navigation is started they wont appear again. Download free install and keep the profile in offline mode.

have you tried resetting your device? enter *#7780# on the home screen. If it asks to end all active connection, activate offline mode and proceed with the reset.
