Personally I feel a little bitter that the cheat Ronaldo is top of the list at the moment and looks set to scoop the award due to a media campaign in Portugal...

The top three voted by fans will join another three chosen by FIFA’s Technical Study Group. TSG will then chose the winner of the award.

Rooney was sent off for allegedly stamping on Portugal’s Ricardo Carvalho — with Ronaldo doing his bit by rushing to get involved with Roo and the referee.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter refused to comment on Ronaldo’s part in the red card. He said: “I have no comment on the behaviour of Ronaldo.

“I was at the match and I have not seen any wrongdoing that has not been sanctioned by the referee.

“I agree that at this World Cup there has been an exuberance of players going towards the referee inviting him to show cards.

“This is a tendency I did not see at the beginning of the World Cup but have seen in the decisive matches.”

I am sorry but personally I think that asking the ref to send off a player and then winking at your coach afterwards is a little wrong...
