Red Steel, MGS4, Gears of War get E3 session

Conference Program assembles big games, names, from creative front; super session puts Cliffy B, Kojima, and Xavier Poix on same panel.

The E3 Expo Conference Program came into clearer focus this week after the last of three big titles was added to the Sneak Peeks session, one of 34 presentations and panels in a program that takes place along side the action of the main show floor.

Most notable for game enthusiasts was the addition of Red Steel (Ubisoft's upcoming Nintendo Revolution exclusive) to a session that already had Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gears of War listed.

Demoing each of the games are their respective creative leads: Hideo Kojima (shown above, center) will personally demo Metal Gear Solid 4 on the PlayStation 3, Cliff Bleszinski (left) will take the reins of Gears of War on the Xbox 360, and Ubisoft Paris boss Xavier Poix (right) will show off Red Steel.

Other panels in the 34-session program include participation of a number of top designers: Richard Garriott joins a session on massively cross-platform gaming, Ed Boon of Mortal Kombat fame joins a session on building franchisable properties, and the designer behind Killer 7--one the year's most sinister titles--Gouichi Suda (Suda 51), will sit on a David Perry-moderated session that will look at game design of the future. Joining Suda and Perry on that panel are The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's lead designer Todd Howard, id Software design lead Tim Willits (Doom 3), and Irrational Games president and co-founder Ken Levine (Freedom Force vs The Third Reich).

Another noteworthy sessions is one that will look at the importance of story and character development. Included in that panel are David Cage of Quantic Dream (Indigo Prophecy); Richard Dansky, Red Storm Entertainment 's lead Clancy writer, David Jaffe off the God of War team, long-time Half-Life and Half-Life 2 writer Marc Laidlaw, and EALA boss Neil Young. They share the speaker's table as Mad Doc Software (Empire Earth II) founder Ian Lane Davis leads the discussion.

The current lineup of speakers and sessions can be found on the E3 Web site.
