Default Sony Ericsson phones mainly Z520a screen going blank

I had a problem with my Sony Ericsson z520a that I had for about 15 mos. I dropped it and the screen developed white horizontal lines across it. A couple days later I dropped it while on the throne from about two feet. I then developed white blank columns on the left side that covered 1/3 of the screen.. that's it..! Had to use my phone mainly from memory...

Well short story mode..

If you develope these.. according to some shallow research, you will... I was told and tried to download updates from the [Only Registered users can see links . Click Here To Register...] website. It seemed to work but only about 10% of the lines went away... still unusable. I would suggest checking on your warranty with SONY ERICSSON.. they seem to have a special manufacturers warranty that I didn't know about. They also sent me a cable free to hook up to pc. Free of charge. I just asked for it and stated that I may have an update issue.

I said I got the problem.
He said you may need the update with a cable that you can purchase on our website for around 20 bucks.
I said, well since it's an update problem, why don't you just send me one...
He said "ok" what's your address.

Check it out before you get stuck with a bad phone.
I dropped sony ericsson and went with the AT&T tilt... better not drop this one!

Hello.
Sony Ericsson phones are renowned for having software issues. I like them but have had to flash numerous ones of mine. I bought a box to do this in the end. You can download the SE update service (SEUS) executable flie from Sony Ericsson direct - its free! You can update the software on the phone using the standard DCU60 cable that comes with the phone.
However, I think your problem may be the flex ribbon cable between the two sides of the flip/clam parts of the phone. The cable runs between the two halves and transmits the picture from the motherboard to the LCD screen. I think the cable may have been dislodged or damaged when dropped. Are you sure the phone has not got wet too - as this can make the screen go white???
