Mony Dalmes, the first French actress to play Moliere in English on Broadway has died aged 91, friends said.Born Simone d'Etennemare on July 24, 1914, Mony Dalmes was a major figure at the Comedie Francaise from 1942 to 1957, taking many leading roles.
She also appeared in some 30 films during her long acting career, and was till appearing on stage at the age of 75
she played in several musicals, and was married for a time to Claude Philippe, the director of the Waldorf Astoria in New York.
