i8910 vs 3G S
Im looking to buy a new phone towards the end of July. I wanted to ask if anyone has the Omnia HD ? Im gonna be deciding between it and the new Iphone 3G S. Things I want to know are:
How are the apps that are available ?
The phones speed ?
Battery time ?
Touch responsivity ?

The only advantage I know of, about the iPhone series is their multi-touch support which makes life easier when using a virtual keyboard on the screen. On the other hand, the Samsung i8910 is a device way beyond iPhone 3GS's capabilities...
If all you want is eye-candy and a very fast GUI and the like, choose iPhone... But if you want a device with a flexible (and unlimited) operating system which can support many many applications, symbian is our most valued possession
Omnia HD is, next age wrt to iPhone and it's already old age now :P

I am not sure if this will help you, but I bought an i8910, and am very happy with it.
But then I have no comparison, as I am not interested in the iPhone, I just don't like Apple's attitude to keep everything closed and under their strict control (I do know about 'jail-breaking'...).
The Symbian OS is open source now, and it is quite easy to install a customised version of the firmware on this phone (if you're up to it), there is another forum that I have been visiting that is very active in this regard. It seems Samsung is happy to leave everybody free to do as you please.
There is the minor issue with needing to sign your apps, which is not too difficult, assuming you don't mind putting in a little bit of effort; you can also hack (jailbreak) your phone and install any unsigned applications if you don
The current firmware still has some (minor) bugs, but hopefully they will be resolved soon. The new 3D taskmanager adds some eye candy while at the same time showing off the multi-tasking. And unfortunately Java seems to have some problems too.
Still missing are full kinetic scrolling and multi-touch, but they are not a limitation of the phone itself, more of the current implementation of the OS. Kinetic scrolling has been announced for future firmwares, but no real info on multitouch.
Most importantly, the calling quality is fine, so all in all, I am happy with the phone.

I also have the i8910. And i am very happy with it. i am also modding roms for it at the moment. the i8910 is one of, if not, the most powerful handset available on the market at the moment. i'd recommend this handst for its ability to play divX/xvid alone....when you play a movie on the screen you should see...it looks awesome..crisp, detailed...

Hello!
Borrowing this thread,
I have an Omnia HD, there is two things i am not happy with.
First: Reception of the phone, its very bad, if i compare to my 3 othere phones that use the same service provider, they are always full reception, but not the omnia, it hardly ever go over 2 blips, and i think its that what make the omnia cut the calls on a regular basis.
It ofter says limited access, or seeking , then after 5 min you are up and running again =(
Second: Battery time, i have nothing installed other then factory apps, but still very bad battery time, those 600h , just in their dreams, maybe it has to do with the phone have so bad reception, i dont know, gonna return it to the store tomorrow.
When you use gps (route 66) it took half of an fully charged battery in 15 minutes...
Best regards Johannes
