I. Introduction
- De-activate all firewalls you have running, you don't want them blocking the transfers to your phone (also the windows firewall)
- It may also be a good idea to deactivate your connection to the internet, routers have been speculated to cause some trouble (more on that later)
- Download the necessary software:
- Activate Bluetooth on your d500 from your settings>connectivity>Bluetooth>activation menu
- Also turn visibility on from your settings>connectivity>Bluetooth>my phones visibility menu
- IF YOU HAVE SET UP ANY JAVA PROXY SETTINGS, DISABLE THEM!! (you find this setting in the menu>applications>java world>settings menu its the second to last setting option in this menu, set it to disable.)
- Have a Bluetooth dongle/receiver ready (don't install it yet if you haven't already)
- If you have already installed your Bluetooth receiver and you are ABSOLUTELY SURE that the default Microsoft Bluetooth drivers are not being used you can skip section II.
- widcomm drivers from v1.3 and higher would be preferable
- check your desktop for a 'my Bluetooth places' icon:

if you don't have this you probably have the Microsoft drivers so make sure to follow the steps in section II.
- If this isn't the first time you are trying this and are without success I will let you gauge by yourself how many of your steps were right and how many were not depending on the success you had, of course you can always undo everything and start from scratch if you feel like it, but its a long process and you've probably had to spend a lot of time just to get as far as you already have, so you can decide for yourself, but i would suggest reading through the entire guide, to make sure you did everything.
II. Installing Bluetooth
If you are not running windows xp sp2 you can skip the step one, well actually you won't even be able to do step one... rejoice!
- Go to the 'C:\windows\inf\' folder and find two files: 'bth.inf' and 'bth.pnf' and rename them to whatever you want, i just added .bak.. your choice we just don't want windows accessing these files when it comes time to install your Bluetooth receiver. (note: you may need to activate show system folders, and also file extensions from your window options to find these files)

- Start up your trusty widcomm driver installer and let it fly, this is pretty straight forward just install the drivers
eventually it will ask you to plug in your Bluetooth device, don't, just hit cancel

Now just finish up the install and shut your system down. - Note: the following steps only applies to the v4 drivers that I'm using, if you are installing the drivers that came with your bt device these steps do not apply to you, plug in your bt adapter and skip ahead to section III.
start up your system in safe-mode by hitting f8 before windows starts loading, (if you've never done this before just start tapping f8 right after you see the bios screen until you see a list of start up choices) - Open the Bluetoothstuff.rar you downloaded earlier and copy:
bttray.exe to 'c:\program files\widcomm\Bluetooth software\'
btstackserver.exe to 'c:\program files\widcomm\Bluetooth software\'
btneighbourhood.dll to 'c:\windows\system32\'
wbtapi.dll to 'c:\windows\system32\'
just over write the files that are already there, i know the little text file inside the rar says to copy the first to files to the bin folder, but they should just go in the root Bluetooth driver folder overwriting the exes there already - Reboot and start windows up normally
- Congratulations you have just installed your Bluetooth software, you can now plug in your dongle or adapter and it should load a driver called 'CSR USB Bluetooth Device'

- Right click on the little Bluetooth icon next to your clock in the systray and hit start using Bluetooth.. you will be welcomed with the screen pictured below, also your systray menu should look like the one pictured below, if it doesn't you are probably using the Microsoft drivers, (its also possible its some other drivers, however i am not familiar with these and am not sure if they will work with this guide, as stated before this guide is made for users of widcomm drivers)

click through the initial set up menu eventually you will be asked for which services you want to install, install whichever you deem necessary, but make sure that 'Bluetooth serial port' is selected:

- Next it will look for Bluetooth devices in the area, select your phone and pair with it, ok done with set up, now for the hard part. =)
III. Setting up a connection
- Now we are going to begin with the initial steps for setting up a serial connection with your phone, activate serial download on your phone by entering the code #*536963# you will get a screen as pictured below: (serial JAVA, others disable)

you will only need to do this once, even if you turn your phone off, this setting will stay.
(note: this setting disables wap push commands for getting java, and may also affect wap and mms ability, depending on your situation, so AFTER your done transferring the games you want you may want to set it back to normal, just enter #*536961#)
anyways just hit 'c' or the 'hang-up' button to get back to your regular phone menu - Right-click on the systray bt icon and click 'advanced configuration' then click on the tab accessibility and allow access to your phone (i don't know if its really necessary but i do it anyways for when i want to send photos from my phone to my comp directly, so its handy for that)

- Next hit the tab 'client applications' you will notice a list of ways for the computer to connect to your phone via Bluetooth:

what we need here is the com port number, in my case its 10, in your case it may be different (or probably will be). REMEMBER THIS PORT NUMBER, write it down if you have to, it will be very important later.. you will also notice that my secure connection is set to 'not required' this is not really an issue, you can have it set to required if you wish the only difference will be that you have to enter a password to connect between the phone and the computer. - Now go ahead and start up a serial connection with your phone from the little systray menu:

and you will get a message on your phone asking if you want to serial connect, hit yes:

your little bt icon in the systray should turn from blue and white to blue and green:

- Alright then, open your 'network connections' dialogue and locate the icon or link entitled 'create a new connection'

a wizard will popup hit next and then tick the radio button 'set up an advanced connection'

then hit 'connect directly to another computer'

your computer in will be the host, so it may be a good idea to tell it that it is

ok now this is VERY IMPORTANT, remember that com port i told you to remember earlier, make sure you select the same port here for the connection, go back and double check if you need to, its important that this is correct. also at this point your computer may try to connect with your phone, just hit yes and allow it to connect, if it doesn't ask, don't be bothered about it, it seems to vary per system.

select the users you want to allow, please do make sure that the user you are currently logged on as is checked, it would also be a good idea to be a user with administrative privelages.

when you are finished you should see a new icon in your 'network connections' windows called 'incoming connections'

- Now lets do some configuring... right click on that brand-spanking-new 'incoming connections' icon you just created and click on 'properties', you will get a nice little 'incoming connections properties' window... now first of all make absolutely sure that your 'communications cable between two computers (COM[insert you port# here]) is the ONLY box checked.

now hit properties to get the following window, make sure your port speed is set to 115200, and your flow control is 'hardware', when your done doing that hit 'ok'

click on the users tab and check the box 'always allow directly connected devices such as palmtop computers to connect without providing a password.'

now hit the networking tab:

and click properties to bring up the tcp/ip properties window:

now make sure to check 'specify tcp/ip addresses, and then fill in a port range, this will be the ip your phone gets when it connects to your computer, for some reason i have found that on some people computers the phone gets the same ip as the computer, why? I'm not really sure.. this step should make sure your mobile gets a different ip, my computers ip is in the 192.168.1.XX range, so i decided to put my mobile in the 192.168.2.XX range, you can of course choose a different range if you want... DO NOT USE the range shown above if your computers ip is also within the 192.168.2.XX range!! also, uncheck the box 'allow calling computer to specify its own IP address for good measure.
ok all done with the set up part, if this was all done correctly you wont need to follow these steps again if you want to send apps to your phone at a later date, you can just start from section IV.
