The preinstalled nokia map is descent although it took a longer time to lock in position.

I heard garmin is still the best option for 5800. Look at the recent thread : HOT Garmin Mobile XT on Nokia touch screen devices

    Default GPSed

Preinstalled nokia map is good for map only but may not functional for tracking, unless you purchase the service ... (hate this, free for some but purchase for the rest, eventhough we already purchase Nokia)

Other gps freeware, Google Maps and ready for s60v5 --- damn good and free, specially if you have mobile data plan --- it is recommended

GPSed is another one, able to track whereever you go as long as satelite can see you (not shaded under the building, ie). free and will be good if you have mobile data plan. Better if this can link with google map or nokia map. GPSed still s60v3 but work well in my 5800xm

    have a try

Sygic mcguider is also available for Symbian platform. Don't know if it works on 5800.

Go with Garmin XT I find it a lot better than Nokia Maps cause it's faster, more detailed and has more options...

He probably meant that it is simply impossible to type in the street number with a 5800xm.
    This is a known problem.

You all mention software for in-country use. But is there a nice software like iGO or TOMTOM that has the maps already there so that u can use it just as a map? Or maybe, that uses it's own sattelites for GPS tracking so that u don't pay for roaming data traffic?
The whole purpose of the GPS and the maps is to use them while travelling/going to new places right?
