    Discharger v 1 freeware

Discharger program used for battery maintenance which uses your mobile light for discharging. You can also use this application as a flashlight.

    Default discharger

was inquisitive. does one need discharger for lithium batteries? the primary reason fro dischargers on NiCad or NiMh bateries were the memory effect that prevented a battery from maitaining memory of its actual actual power reduced. thats not the case with Lithium batteries which have memory and can fill up from half way to optimum.

obviously its a mechanical process and there may be some gaps in optimal charge. therefore a discharge will only ensure a full recharge from 0-100.

But is it alright to be discharging lithium batteries. or will it damage the life of the battery over time? thats the answer i need to find out.

    Hey,

You are correct, over time your batterys will suffer. They will not get damaged as such as long as they are not discharged below 3 volts per cell, but the more cycles (charge/discharge etc.) they have the less life span they will give.

You have hit the nail right on the head with Lithium Ion & Polymer batterys, they do not suffer the memory effect that NiCad & NiMh batterys have. NiMh are better still than NiCads for not needing cycling so often, but they also lose charge whether they are being used or not once disconnected from the charging source.

I have learnt a lot about batterys as I fly RC model helicopters and use LiPoly's to power the electric models I have.
