It doesn’t hit the shelves until next week, but Sony Ericsson’s new P1 arrived in its pretty box here at T3 Towers this morning. And we’re more than a little impressed with the new monster mobile. 25% smaller than its predecessor, the P990, but with 25% more battery, it really is the cell you need if you like mixing the pleasure of taking ridiculous photos of your mates with, y’know, real stuff like email and that thing called work. Beneath the lush, 2.6-inch touchscreen is a veritable stash of techie goodness. It’s 3G and WiFi enabled, so you can get going on the web in no time. There’s support for all types of push mail, so if you’re a Blackberry Connect or ActiveSync type, you’ll have no trouble getting your messages. There’s a 512MB memory stick and a 4GB card for storing all your tunes and pics, which you’ll be taking using the 3.2 meg camera. The MP3 player is a cinch to use too. Best of all, there’s a PC style task manager, letting you end apps when you want, rather than having to search through the phone for what you’ve got running. It'll even take info from all those business cards you've got piled up; just take a snap and it'll process the lot. Essentially, it combines all the best bits of SE’s killer Walkman cells and the magic K800i in a super-slick, 17mm bod’. It’s out later this week, so get a peek now in our exclusive video and image gallery. Checkout a Movie of the phone in action [Only Registered users can see links .
