Python 2.0 for S60 Now Available OTA

Nokia have today made the latest update to the Python language for S60, Version 2.0, available via the built in Software Update application.

The Python for S60 is Nokia’s port of the Python programming language, and allows core access to many of the features of S60 handsets. Lots more information is available in the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Whilst there seems to be no official word of the release of Version 2.0 for S60 devices, the update showed up as available on my Nokia N85. The update is over 4MB in size, and takes some seconds to install.

I think is available for every FP2 ,not yet on 5800.

so it's an update of the 1.9x python, isn't it ? is it available for FP1 too , and could it run "sun and moon calendar" (available with 1.94) ? could you check it for us please ?

I tested sun and moon calendar last version (phone memory) on my phone and i have this screen



btw python update didnt uninstal old python on my N85

sistail and other apps I had on my phone working perfectly

thank you for replying, but should have known that python 1.4x and 1.9x works separately, that's why sistail and other app still work (by the way, which module do you use with python 1.45 ?). "sun and moon calendar" hasn't already worked with python other than 1.94 !! thank yo for testing anyway, I think we need rol@n95d to explain the error message you got.

it works great with the apps I use

after installing python 2.0, I still get the 1.94 icon and sunmooncal doesn't work anymore. it also asks for checking PIPS and runtime which are already installed. I'm reinstalling 1.94 at the moment.

How To upgrade from Python v1.9.x to v2.0.0' (if you'd like to):
1.) Delete PythonRuntime v1.9.x via default App.manager (LEAVE ScriptShell undeleted.delete only Python Interpreter,dont worry about the warnings),restart the phone.
2.) Install Python v2.0.0 then install PythonScriptShell v2.0.0 (sign,if needed and agree to overwrite existing).click icon to launch Python v2.0.0.
3.) If asks for pips and libs install 6 files from the OS9_Pips installer.v1.60.zip (included in the .zip some of you will get a update error, meaning you dont need that file) (sign SDL_Library.v2.31 if youre phone is not hacked). restart youre phone (didnt do that in my n95) and Python v2.0.0 should run fine.
maybe some apps that works with v1.9x wont work.
all my apps working fine.

I installed this one on my N97 to the Mass memory E: , and it works perfect!!! I can now as an example, install apps like X-pressAlarm and Sweet memories and so on to E: and it works perfect! Thanks for the upload!
