Default 1gb(1024mb)multimedia card nokia 6600.

i have a transcend 1gb multimedia card in my 6600,but it only shows 967mb in the phone.i realise that a certain amount of space is taken up by formatting, but 57mb seems an awful lot.does anyone know of a card that will show a higher capacity in the phone than mine does?please advise, cheers.

this is normal... all memory card is taken away a certain amount of space even though you format it or not. this is totally normal and happens to every memory card even if it's 1 gb or 6gb.. think there is nothing you can do..

Quite right DjSpike, I have a 1Gb memory card in my 6600, and it shows up as :

Capacity 980 MB

Used 95 MB

Free 885 MB

Most memory cards are not quite as big as they state, and they all use some memory for system and running software.

It's an MMC PLUS, made by Kingston Technology, I bought it from Powerhouse, cost about £24.00 back in 2006.

Atomicwolf and Dj Spike are both right..
Anyway, is that ok having 1gb with 6600? Don't you think it's too big for 6600?

bangun,1gb is the absolute maximum for the 6600,it does slow the phones system down a little bit, this is understandable.i doubly checked the phone with a 2gb card,it is not recognised.

The higher the memory card capacity, the more gets eaten when reformated...e.g. a 32mb card becomes a 30mb card after format, but a 1gb card becomes a 964mb card after format...hope you got it...
