A school district is teaching all of its students to fight back against armed intruders. Pencils books and seventh graders are said to be all that is neccessary to stop a 200 poun man with a gun.

would imagine kids would scream and run if someone took out the first student or teacher. High School would be different though. I at least think the teachers should be better equipped though. The article mentions how at Columbine they were told by teachers to all lay down and cooperate and then they were just shot while lying down.

I agree it should turn into a screaming rampage of students running for the exits at all costs but fighting back I have my worries about.

2day the one thing that the world lacks & what i crave for is PEACE. There are so many bloodbaths going on in so many countries. One place or the other there is violence, just terrible conditions . All this makes me think that by the time of 2020, The Human Race will no longer exist on this planet. I might be going overprovocative about it but the end seems near. Adding 2 it teaching children battles will just do the job of oil 2 fire. Instead I feel, some1 must come up with ideas of PEACE & PROSPERITY SCHOOLS in which people are taught how 2 spread the message of peace and other good practices for the society & most importantly all important leaders like George W. Bush should b the part of the first batch . Ultimately i say no to combat in schools

no i dont think should be taught combat, kids should just be allowed to be kids !! teaching them fighting methods is just a magent towards them turning/being violent.

But I agree with Slim who says we should be promoting peace at shcools and peace within our young ones or the future will be bleak !

We need to go back to the time when children had there innocence, Nowadays you see them with short skids and make-up and they look like adults but they are not...

No fighting techniques for kids, books, language classes, sports these are the things children need to focus on...

after all those child kidnapings in america, kids should be taught to how to talk with strangers and tips how to avoid criminals, a few combat skills would also help but most of the kids will try knock of their classmates

Children should be taught combat at school.But it should be mainly self defence.A person learning karate or kung fu has more patience and mental strength than ordinary ppl.It will help the children to be patient and help them to escape from bullying and will also boost self confidence.The teaching should concentrate on mental developement through combat training.But there are negative aspects also to this scheme if some of the children after learning it put it into use for illegal activities.It may turn out to be trouble for others at last.Take a decision after comparing the negative and positive aspects of this idea.
