The thing is though these people are using religion as an excuse as its what they believe in, they honestly belive that there religion is the only one to follow and anyone that doesnt or opposes it should die in the name of Allah (Jihad) hence why there is a holy war. They do not care for other religions or the fact that humans have a choice. In a way its like a dictatorship. Even the Holy Qur'an says its ok to commit these killings:

"Fight and slay the Unbelievers wherever ye find them. Seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war."
Qur'an, Sura 9:5

These fanatics will do anything to get this message across will preach hate as long as their religion tells them too, a lot of Muslims dont agree with what Al-qaeda are doing and its giving Islam a bad name, so if thats the case why dont they do something about it ? I believe the problem lies within.

I think you didnt understand well what it mean :

I think it mean fighting the unbelievers who are fighting us and destruct our countries and announce the WAR agains ISLAM . I think this is what will this chapter of HOLY Quran mean .

Islam dont encourage wars and destruction and fighting the others without reasons . it is a Religion of peace . but Today the Media ( TV . Newspapers ...) try to give a bad image about it .

Maybe I have misread it, but it reads to me "destroy all unbelievers" and it doesnt mention anything about "but only if they start it". And also it says "wherever ye find them" wich means all over the world. Which we are seeing on a daily basis.

Jihad has been going on for thousands of years and in 1630's europe nearly became and islamic state but the Jihad fighters were stopped at Vienna. So it seems to me like this has happened before.

This is solely down to religion and doesnt sound too peaceful to me ! If Islam is the Religion of Peace then why is it not telling its fighters to stop killing innocent people, or come to an agreement ? ? As Al-Qaeda said "we will not stop until our religion prevails" Which basically means they want to defunk all other religions until theirs is left and by committing Jihad they are doing this. According to the Dictionary of Islam people conquered by jihad are given three choices:

1) convert,
2) pay a head tax, or
3) die.

Thats basically what AL-qaeda and Jihad wants. How can that be peace ? This is what Islam has done to other religions:

This is not Islam and this is not a Jihad . killing innocents ( with surprising methodes) and including ( childrens and also other musulmans ) , are not from what Islam Ask us

you have to know that the Quran is an arabic holy book . and you have posted a quotation translated in english which didnt reflect well the meaning of each Sura . so you have to read before this quotation and after it . to not misunderstand the general meaning . I assure you that you have a wrong vision about Islam . ( it is not like you think)

and when you will learn something about Islam try to search a good and reliable source , because in some countries they try to give bad and wrong image about ISLAM .

Islam is a beautifull religion and teachs one to live in peace and harmony. But some fanatics are using it as a shield to carry out there evil goals against freedom. These people have no religion and just killing innocent people in the name of jihad.

Yes I think you are right, in some countries it is given a very bad name, very bad indeed. I am sure it is a good religion for the true followers and is just being used by the Terroists, which gives it bad name.

I think its up to your community to stop these people using the name of Islam in the wrong way ! I have a few muslim friends and they all renounce it like you guys.

me myself I am an Atheist so I am a bit sceptical about religion ! I not intended to offend anyone !

hi guys, i m back. well i love to disuss this topic. and specially based on terrorism.. well we know wht is happening in iraq,afghanistan, now in lebnan..,well doughboy ur just saying abt islam,, wht abt usa and uk. they r killing innoncent people over there, and as u can see in lebnan. they r killing small children, well is it humanity?, wht american army did in iraq with prisoners, nobody even think abt that. i m tottaly agree with israel bcz hizbullah captured their army people and they r attacking tr as well as in their country. so they have ryt according to united nation aggreement. to protect their country. but they dont have right to kill innocent people. that wht they r doing wrong. that i dont like it. it the only game of iran. bcz they will get time to make nuclear bomb. and after that world war 3. if they get nuclear. they will start to fire frm israel and they have already..then radical muslims will start jihad. which is goign to be happen. i m 100% sure.well as i know kuran say u have to always help ur neighbours. if u dont help them means ur not helping god. u cant kill innocent people. if u do u will go to hell. so i think the real muslim is that who is following kuran not imam means priest in mosque. these people r bull shit. they have to kill by army. they do everything brainwash. who wants to die like that.sorry friend i will disuss that topic when somebody reply. i m waiting for reply

I agree with you sunnysunny , I had the intention to mention this point ,
Usa envide poor contries in pretext to help but I reality they only cause Destructions , civiles wars , and humans catastrophs . (Clair exp : Iraq / pelestine /Lebanon ...)
I wonder why UK also are always following the strategies of USA . !!!

In most of these outfits, Terrorist or Extremist, mostly unemployed and uneducated youth are shown carrots to absorb them. Once they get into the web it is impossible to wriggle out.

Top leaders of these outfits can’t mix with the main stream life because they are used to different life style. Every one knows (including the outfit members) that they will not achieve their goals, just to remind their existence they keep killing innocent people with the help of politicians and some social organizations.

Do you think, with latest weapons and technologies which even our police force does not have, it is difficult for the terrorists to target politicians & bureaucrats, then why only innocent people are targeted?

It is true that these outfits are off shoots of political parties; only politicians can control or wipe them out totally. These attacks come in handy for ruling parties to divert public & opposition parties’ attention.

It is not a single group or organization, there are lakhs of splinter groups without head or tail (hierarchy) every one is boss in his own way.

One of the solutions to control their activities is to block funds and weapons flow across the border.
