Smile How to use WinMount and to quickly mount files

So you've got a file and you don't have any DVDs or CDs to burn it with? That's not a problem because you can always mount it to a virtual drive instead.

WinMount is by far one of the most simple and effective mounting tools I have ever used and this guide will explain how you to use it.

The first thing you need to do is run over [Only Registered users can see links . Click Here To Register...] and download yourself a copy of WinMount and install it. I would suggest that you do not set any associations with this program unless you are sure about what you are doing. Altering file associations could alter the way other programs handle files!

WinMount supports mounting of the following file types:
  • 7z (7-zip)
  • B5T (BlindWrite 5)
  • BWT (Blindwrite)
  • CCD (CloneCD)
  • CDI (Discjuggler)
  • CUE/BIN
  • IMG
  • ISO
  • ISZ (Compressed ISO images)
  • MDS/MDF (Media Descriptor File)
  • NRG (Nero)
  • PDI (Instant CD/DVD)
  • RAR (WinRAR)
  • WIM (Windows Imaging Format)
  • WMT (WinMount)
  • ZIP (WinZIP)

Now. Once you have installed WinMount fire it up and you will see a screen like this:

If you are an advanced user then you can simply find your file to be mounted then drag and drop it into the main window. If you do not know how to do that then use the following method.

On the toolbar click the Mount file button. You will see an open file window appear like this:

Simply browse to the file you wish to mount. As you can see here I am going to mount the file called flag_collection.zip. Once you have navigated to the folder which contains the file to be mounted click it once to select it then click Open. You will be returned to the main screen which will now look like this:

If you have an item listed there then that's great. WinMount successfully mounted the file for you! Now if you wish to view the contents of the file you simple open Windows Explorer and navigate to the drive letter that is listed in the first column:

Opening the drive will show the contents of the file. That wasn't so hard was it? Once you are done with the mounted drive, right click the drive letter and select the Unmount option as shown below or right click the WinMount icon in the notification area, navigate to the correct item (in my case H:) then select Unmount from there.

That is the basic guide to using WinMount. Now you can use various files without having to burn them first. Not so hard is it?
