Nintendo today announced that it will be opening up 600 Wi-Fi hotspots in retailers across the UK. These will offer owners of the DS handheld free access to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, as well as the chance to download playable demos of current and forthcoming DS titles.
These hotspots, installed in cooperation with BT Openzone, will be located in branches of GAME, Gamestation, HMV, Toys R Us and selected independent retailers up and down the country. There will be 607 new hotspots in all, adding to the 7,500 already in operation in the UK.
The first available downloads are one-level demos of Meteos and Polarium, which will be followed in April and May by Pokemon Link, Trauma Centre: Under the Knife and Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? Other downloadable content will include movies and “special” items.
The rollout begins today, so get down your local games emporium and get online. Unless you don’t own a DS, in which case you can feast your eyes on our pics of the gorgeous DS Lite below.
