Contest of hacking : mobiles declared inviolable
Zero ! it is the amount received by the developers present at the conference of software safety baptized “Pwn2Own” and organized in Canada in last end of the week. However, with the occasion of the conference “CanSecWest”, was promised a sum of 10.000 dollars to whoever could show that a system of mobile exploitation is hackable.
All OS mobiles were subjected to severely tested, of the system interns of the iPhone, in Symbian while passing by Blackberry OS, Android or Windows Mobile.
Result : in the world of the “fixed” computers, they are the principal navigators Web of the market who showed security breaches.
Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari were touched by these faults.
On the other hand, in the world of the mobiles, all remained inviolate.
The blog of the conference indicates that these terminals are still too recent to show true vulnerabilities, especially with their memory size very limited and processor still. Consequently of what these terminals are undoubtedly hackable but the process to reach that point is still complicated and not easily reproducible.
The organizers of the conference promise that the year 2010 should be the year of the hacking of the mobiles…
