European Union : Brussels wants universal chargers for mobiles
Confirming the information published last February, the European Union wishes to accelerate adoption of the universal chargers for mobile phones. With this occasion, Brussels leaves one month to the manufacturers of mobile phones to put an agreement on a model of universal charger.
It's interest ? to allow and preserve it even while changing telephone. Because today nearly 30 models of chargers are available in Europe for a total of 500 million parts in circulation, the idea is from now on, to make them usable on the telephones of all the marks of the market.
“If the manufacturers are not ready by the end of April, we will propose to legislate. We will focus ourselves on the chargers for mobiles”
indicated the spokesperson of Guenter Verheugen, Commissaire with the industry of the EU.
Because in the long term, the universal charger should be plebiscite at the same time for the mobiles and the other terminals of pocket like cameras or walkman.
Hum, it would be nice... having just one universal charger...

I heard about the universal chargers , they will be compatible with 90% of the existing phones (Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, T-Mobile, Orange, 3, AT&T and Vodafone....) and more ecological which will help to conserve a good envirenment .
The GSMA estimates the new charger will mean the potential elimination of up to 51,000 tonnes of duplicate chargers.
