The Nokia 6680 is the 3G phone from Nokia. Being 3G means that it has dual camera (on the back as well as front). Please note that there is no official confirmation from Nokia about this handset as of now. But those of you who have a habit of hanging about the forums will be knowing about this handset. The 6680 has set hearts afire with its huge screen and camera lens protected by slider (reminds you of 7650). I like the slider part, looks smart and is really good at protecting the lens. The 6680 will sport the new Series 60 User Interface (perhaps you have heard of this one as well, it will be 3D. No idea what that means yet, but I guess it will be pretty impressive just going by Nokias track record. I also think that the 6680 is probably being saved as the grand finale for the CeBit in Germany where it is routine for the handset manufacturers to announce scores of new phones every year.
Subsequently it is a matter of rivalry to showcase the handset generating the most interest. Last year it was the MPX, perhaps 2005 will belong to Nokia with the 6680. The 6680 will be on up on the curently popular 6630 with better processing power and memory.

The More Details
Under the tentative data for the 2Q 2005 Nokia plans to start shipments of the top-end model Nokia 6680 equipped with two digital cameras.
At the moment we get the info that Nokia 6680 will be positioned above Nokia 6630 in the line, however it looks rather like Nokia 6670 than Nokia 6630.
Besides the new slider 3G phone powered by Series 60 will be equipped with two integrated digital cameras - one on the front panel, the other on the back panel. The handset supports the transfer of live video during phone talks and displays 3D graphics, it might enable GUI control and menu navigation.
To add, Nokia 6680 will be listed at some €650. Nokia pays much attention to the promotion of this top-end model, so it has registered a special domain NOKIA6680.COM (but it's not yet active).

A mock-up of the Nokia 6680, of which there have been rumors flying around the past month, has been leaked on mobile.cz.
The 6680 is rumored to be the next 3G phone from Nokia, which will probably run the new generation of the Series60 platform which integrated the functions from the now defunct Series90 platform. The 6680 will also be the first Nokia 3G mobile which will have a user-facing camera. The fantastic Nokia 6630, aka Charlie, only had a camera that faced away from the user making video-calls impossible without using a separate cradle. For now, there are no confirmed specs for the phone but it’s a safe assumption that it will have the usual features of a Symbian Series60 Nokia phone.
What’s most interesting is the fact that this phone has a user-facing camera. In the past, Nokia seemed to be shunning Mobile Video-Calls since every 3G mobile Nokia has ever produced hasn't been built for Video-Calls. Has Nokia found new confidence in the future of Video-Calls? Or are they only providing the extra camera so as to match the competition from other 3G mobiles?
