Thread: Symbian OS v9

The launch of Symbian OS version 9 has been announced by Symbian. Due to be released in second half of 2005 it seems Symbian is going to battle Microsoft’s Windows Mobile Edition 2005 (codenamed Magneto) for the smartphone market. Symbian OS v9 will contain various updates such as:

- enhanced security
- enhanced power consumption
- enhanced performance
- 3D graphics and acceleration
- USB mass storage

…aswell as various other enhancements. Symbian plans to lower development costs, whilst improving time to market, with a bigger selection of phones and more support of 2.5G and 3G networks around the world.
