Default Not sure about Wi-Fi

I have got the SE P1 and want to use the wi-fi i have connected to my home pc router but am not sure what to do when i have established the connection, how do i get on the internet and more importantly how do i know i am using my router for free(or any wi-fi connection for that matter) rather then using the phone operator which charges a fortune to surf?

Many Thanks

I don't understand wi-fi either
- do I 'have' to use a sim card to access wi-fi/vo-ip (this seems to defeat te object of the exercise) or are there hacks to get around this?

Did ya read your owners manual?

(1) You usually have to setup the connection first n your connections settings. Select manual connect so you can choose which connection to use. Then when you surf you select that instead of 3g or whatever then you can surf for free.

(2) Sim card is needed to turn on phone. Otherwise the SIM is not actually used if you are surfing by WIFI.

About Wi-fi...

Usually for any phone, when you are connected to a wireless lan it displays a connection symbol which mean you are connected.

If your phone is wi-fi capable it has an option of "wi-fi" in connectivity/connection-option just like bluetooth and infrared.

Selecting wi-fi option will make your phone search for any available wireless lan. Connecting to a wireless lan connects you to internet.

Wi-fi is a device-application just like bluetooth and lan Card. Which allow your gadget such as notebook and mobile phone to connect to a wireless network and internet.

After establishing a wi-fi connection you can go to your phone web browser and can start surfing.

Just wanted to say, some phones, like the E65 (my phone) has WLAN and a offline mode, so you can start and use it without simcard...
