Carphone Warehouse expects to make more money on iPhone accessories than the device itself.
The Carphone Warehouse says it will not make as much money ‘as it would like’ on sales of Apple’s iPhone, for which it is Apple and O2’s exclusive third-party distributor in the UK.
Instead, it will make merry on sales of accessories, which traditionally come with higher margins.
Speaking to the FT, Carphone CFO Roger Taylor said: “We do make money on the iPhone, though possibly not as much as we would like. But the real benefit is as a huge driver of footfall and accessories sales.”
Taylor also said that Carphone was ‘very confident’ of receiving enough iPhones to fulfill demand, having been given a lot of reassurances from Apple. The device will go on sale in the UK on November 9th.
