It seems it's not a 3G phone and noticed that many people are trying to sell their phones cause they are not on the network they would like...
I am afraid the news is not good but at least you know now... Try to contact the Network I know that Orange unlock phones in the U.K. for £20... Also if you take the Phone to London there are loads of little places that should Unlock your phone for around £10 while you wait... PM me if you want the address of somewhere in Streatham that will do it for £10 I don't want to advertise some guys shop that I don't even know... Better to buy a 3G phone if you plan to send it overseas next time...

Thanks for that, problem is the phone already over (just outside Sacramento).
My Friend got over here and took it back with her !! Orange won't unlock unless you pay them upfront and as it's got no credit and no way adding credit in the US.... There must the same phone shops over there as in the UK, I'll just tell her to ask around. (and an off topic question, what the situation with Sony W810i ? As she took one of those back for her friend ?) Again, thanks for the info. |

Quote:
1. try another sim in the phone before going to unlock (e.g. o2 do not lock their phones) 2. all sony ericsson phones can only be unlocked with a cable - go to your local independant mobile shop, or the dodgy fella up the market with a laptop and bag full of cables. Will cost ya anywhere between a fiver and a tenner! (In your case you will have to see if they provide this service in the U.S.) 3. here is some info on how to unlock it yourself [Only Registered users can see links . Click Here To Register...] Hope it helps and good luck...
