Many ISPs use "sticky" IP addresses:
If you switch modem off then on again too soon AND no one else (customer of same ISP) has switched on and given your old IP address, you will get your old IP address back again when u switch on. The longer u wait before switching on again, the more likely that u will have a new IP address.
So, best to wait 3-5 mins, go make yourself a coffee, set a timer if u want, then switch on again.
Also good to set a bookmark to display your IP address e.g. whatismyip.com and refresh it after switching on to see if it has changed.
