Default Flowing Waves

This tut will help you make some funked up hair-like waves, that look really cool

1. Start with anything. Renders work really good for stuff like this.

2. I deleted all the stuff on it, because they weren't needed in this. Shrunk it down as well, for your convinience. So, Here's what I have to start.

3. Duplicate the layer, and go to Filter > Distort > Wave and mess around with the settings to your pleasure. The crazier the waves the crazier the image, but thats not true in all cases. Over-waving could result in some pretty bad scenario's. Do this about 2 or 3 times, depending on how funked you want the image to look.

4. I did it twice. Remember, Experiment with the waves, mess them around a bit, don't have 2 wave layers with the same amount of wave to it, mess it around. Or don't, it's up to you. Time for a bit more experimenting. Change the layer modes of all the wave layers, to whatever looks good. More experimentation
The 2 layer modes I chose for this one were Lighten for the top layer, and screen for the middle. Where did the colour go you may ask? I desaturated it (Shift + Ctrl + U). I suggest you do it as well, seeing as that will be our next step, to colour our image up.

5. Time for the fun part that gives the depth to the picture, a bit of colour balancing. We'll just be using a simple hue colour change for this, I haven't tested balancing it. Give each layer a nice colour change, but don't make it too drastic. We want the image to flow together, not be as insane as possible, unless that was your aim The bottom and the top layer have extremely close colour hue's, but I tweaked the middle one up to toss in some flavor.

6. That's pretty much it, There's a few places you can go after this, like brushwork, or other things. Experimentation is a key if you want to learn anything, you never learn anything inputting exact numbers. Enjoy
This was my final production for this entire image.
