Need Garmin Mapsource full version
'K I got it working
Over the weekend I installed the SA maps after I couldn't get the Masource update to work as a full version, there after Mapsource started functioning without problems. So somehow the maps also install some files to make Mapsource work I guess. Anyway thats how it works if anyone else needs was wondering. I didn't use the menu that pops up when you insert the DVD, because my 6220c can't be in "Mass Storage" mode and connect to the internet at the same time for some strange reason, it must be a limitation of the 6220c I guess. So I just installed the SA maps from its folder on the CD with its install file located in the folder. There after Mapsourced worked. I also got GMXT 5.00.40 installed and serialised with the help of Catymag's guide. I also managed to upload the SA map to my 6220c with mapsourced after I got the map unlocked with JMKG.
GMXT seems nice but it needs a bit more improvement I think, 6 things I noticed: 1: it is slow to catch signal, 2: It loses signal easily, 3: when I disable and immediately re-enable GPS it has signal again, so must be a bug, 4: doesn't show the names of approaching streets in 3D mode / view, 5: autozoom not working, 6: colorscheme sucks
I do think GMXT has a lot of potential, the guys at Garmin just need to take some tips from other GPS software, personally I do like Garmin because its a long existing trusted name in GPS's. I'm sure it will improve in future versions.
