Some Info on hostel for you Spiral Quentin Tarantino Presents Hostel ![]() Director: Eli Roth Executive Producer: Quentin Tarantino Release date: February 23rd, 2006 Running time: 93 minutes Rating: yet to be advised Out on DVD in the U.S. Now Hostel is the gruesome follow up to director Eli Roth’s 2002 debut, Cabin Fever. The film is presented by Quentin Tarantino, who also jumped on board as Executive Producer upon reading Roth’s script and determining that Hostel portrayed “the scariest ******* idea” for a horror movie he’d heard in years. Needless to say, Hostel is graphically disturbing yet totally engrossing. The film follows two American college friends, Josh (Derek Richardson) and Paxton (Jay Hernandez), who embark on a trip through central Europe in search of drugs, girls and good times. In Amsterdam, Josh, Paxton, and fellow traveler, Oli (Eythor Gudjonsson), hear about a Shangri-La of sorts; a hostel in a small Slovakian town where gorgeous women will do literally anything for American tourists. The trio arrive at the hostel and find to their delight that they are sharing a room with two seductive beauties, Svetlana (Jana Kaderabkova) and Natalya (Barbara Nedeljakova). However, the world they enter is an alien land of poverty and crime in which gangs of children bludgeon grown adults to death for bubblegum, human lives are sold for slaughter, and being American gives you a $25 000 price tag. What begins as a lighthearted story about backpackers getting high and getti What makes Hostel so frightening is that there is no one villain, but an entire town in which people from all walks of life converge to satisfy their own sick curiosities – what it feels like “to hold the very essence of human life in your hands.” Ultimately, Roth shows that there are no limits as to what one person will do to another for their own pleasure. Even more horrifying is that Hostel is partly based on fact.Josh and Paxton represent stereotypical personalities found in all American teen movies: Josh the shy, reliable one, and Paxton the arrogant, gregarious party-lover. As a result, it is hard to become emotionally involved with either character, and easy to find yourself watching on not because you like the pair and want to see them escape, but because you want to see just how much Roth will make them suffer. The fact that Roth forces his audience to become complicit in the brutality Josh and Paxton experience is perhaps the film’s greatest feat. Hostel's relentless gore amid the background of Slovakia's dire (but all too real) socio-economic circumstance situates the film somewhere between your typical mindless slasher flick and a more stimulating form of horror. At 93 minutes however, Roth refuses to let his audience become desensitised to violence the way he could have done if the film had been allowed to drag on for another half-hour. Instead, his vision remains unflinching and suspenseful throughout. If you thought the Australian outback was unsafe after watching Wolf Creek, you can cross central Europe off your list now too. The verdict: sickly riveting, right till the bloody end. 3/5

O.K. Watched Hostel At last and like I said I will now let you know what I think of it...
Not Scary at all, The film does have a creepy feeling about it but apart from one or 2 scenes there is nothing too graphic about it... The film is very clever but I don't want to spoil that aspect of the movie for you... The Acting is very good and beleivable cause most of them you havn't seen in a movie before... All in all 3/5 Going to watch (Guy Richies) Revolver later tonight...
