Book Description:

501 Grammar & Writing Questions: multiple choice and essay format. Teaches grammar, paragraph development, sentence structure, verb tenses, and more.

This is a really good book for a skill assessment and quick brush up.

Most of the questions are in multiple choice format and the answers are provided in back. They are usually accompanied with a simple reason why this answer is correct and the other choices are wrong. Admittedly, this is great for a refresher and/or for an assessment of problem areas. But to really learn how to apply these rules consistently, you'll likely need a companion to this book. The cool part is, if you take all the tests, you'll know which one.

So, if you are looking for lasting improvement, this book will get your started, but it is probably best used in that context. However, if you just want a quick review, this will help.

Book Description:

while (dead_horse)

beat ():

If you’re like most people, the above seems like nonsense. Actually, it’s computer sense”C programming. After digesting C For Dummies, 2nd Edition, you’ll understand it. C programs are fast, concise and versatile. They let you boss your computer around for a change. So turn on your computer, get a free compiler and editor (the book tells you where), pull up a chair, and get going. You won’t have to go far (page 13) to find your first program example. You’ll do short, totally manageable, hands-on exercises to help you make sense of:

* All 32 keywords in the C language (that’s right”just 32 words)
* The functions”several dozen of them
* Terms like printf(), scanf(), gets (), and puts ()
* String variables, numeric variables, and constants
* Looping and implementation
* Floating-point values

In case those terms are almost as intimidating as the idea of programming, be reassured that C For Dummies was written by Dan Gookin, bestselling author of DOS For Dummies, the book that started the whole library. So instead of using expletives and getting headaches, you’ll be using newly acquired skills and getting occasional chuckles as you discover how to:

* Design and develop programs
* Add comments (like post-it-notes to yourself) as you go
* Link code to create executable programs
* Debug and deploy your programs
* Use lint, a common tool to examine and optimize your code

A helpful, tear-out cheat sheet is a quick reference for comparison symbols, conversion characters, mathematical doodads, C numeric data types, and more. C For Dummies takes the mystery out of programming and gets you into it quickly and painlessly.

Overview: With the release of PHP 5 web developers need a guide to developing with PHP 5 to both learn its complex new features and more fully implement the long-standing features on which PHP's success is built. PHP 5 in Practice is a reference guide that provides developers with easy-to-use and easily extensible code to solve common PHP problems. It focuses on providing real code solutions to problems, allowing the reader to learn by seeing exactly what is happening behind the scenes to get your solution. Because a real-life situation will rarely match the book's example problems precisely, PHP 5 in Practice explains the solution well enough that you will understand it and can learn how to truly solve your own problem.

Book: Understand IPv6
Author: Joseph Davies
Publisher: Microsoft Press

Description: This book is a straightforward discussion of the concepts, principles, and processes of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and how IPv6 is supported by the Microsoft Windows .NET Server 2003 family of operating systems. It is primarily a discussion of protocols and processes rather than a discussion of planning, configuration, deployment, and management. It is also mostly about IPv6 rather than the specifics of the implementation for the Windows .NET Server 2003 family. Therefore, this book does not contain in-depth implementation details of the IPv6 protocol for the Windows .NET Server 2003 family, such as structures, tables, buffers, or coding logic. These details are highly guarded Microsoft intellectual property that is of interest only to a relative handful of software developers.

The purpose of this book is to provide an educational vehicle that will enable one to learn IPv6 to a fair technical depth”the terms, the addresses, the protocols, and the processes. This is not intended to be a breezy marketing overview of IPv6 and how it "provides integrated and interoperable technologies to enable exciting new scenarios for personal and enterprise computing."
