The book employs both traditional and modern methods and introduces folds readily accessible to the beginner and others calculated to challenge the expert. The simplicity of the models, together with the lovely designs and variety of subjects represented, makes this a great book to start with. "The biggest short-coming of this book, however, is that the English translation of the terms used in folding is almost always different than the English terms which we used today. So a mountain-fold is called a peak-fold, reverse-folds are called hood and pocket-fold, etc. Another issue is the complete lack of indication as to which side of the paper should we start folding on, as the diagrams are all one (white) colored. This is basically left for the folder to figure out. "Still, taking in mind that this book was published in 1973, it's a great little volume to work with when you need easy and effective models." Click Here To Register...] Book Description Explore the far edges of what’s possible with “the new origami.” The objects are fantastic, but the folding techniques use simple triangles and squares, pyramids, and cubes. Master spiral designs, multi-pointed stars, 9-sided gift boxes, and 12-sided gyroscopic whirligigs. More elaborate designs invite you into the outer-space world of stars with starbeams and 8-sided flying saucers, whimsical crows in the grass, gorgeous nested boxes, and sculptured gift containers. From the Back Cover Move beyond the boundaries of traditional origami and cross new dimensions of creativity. These innovations to a classic craft are so extensive they could be called revolutionary! You'll use new materials, forms, and folding and design techniques. That's what makes this type of origami extreme and exciting. But what you'll find most satisfying about it are the projects you'll create, whether you're breaking symmetry to fashion a cat family or producing super pinwheel-cube modules.
