Can it be installed on a Samsung Omnia HD and fooled into thinking its a Nokia 5800?

It's true but for present only some models can use this service (like N97 mini,etc).Soon more Nokia phones will be able to use it...

Nokia wants to recapture market share by giving free maps. I live in North America, and the Nokia 5230 comes pre-loaded on the memory card with street maps of north america! The walking or driving shows you a map of where you are, and how far you need to go to get to your destination. It will even talk to you, saying 'turn right at Main street.' It does not even need a data plan, but can just use the GPS chip in the phone, however adding a brief burst of data of maybe 25Kb helps the GPS app lock in on your location.

I am a Brit and i live in China and the free nokia maps are useless on my N97. tried several times to find places with it and they are either not included in the map or it takes longer for nokia maps to work out a route than it does to actually get there. works well in Europe but here in China is a chocolate fireguard.

and in some countries you even get .... UNIVERSAL NOKIA PHONE VACUUM CAR HOLDER....

I have tried on my Nokia E61 ,but it says ,phone not listed ,go to this link,.When you go.you still can not find my phone.If anyone knows better ,let me know

It works fine on my Nokia N8 in India, it shows the road map to all most all important villages and guides correctly. Thanks Nokia

In Malaysia it works flawlessly....yeah its free but still need online connection to browse place,to navigate destination...you still need money for your data plan.
