The Revolution: hard drive hater.
Nintendo’s forthcoming console will forego a hard disk in favour of SD and USB storage.
With both the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 coming fully hard-drived up, we had been wondering how hard disk-shunning Nintendo was planning on tackling storage on its forthcoming Revolution console.
We need wonder no longer. Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata has revealed that the Revolution will come with an SD card slot to support its piddling 512MB of internal memory. It will also have USB ports allowing users to add external storage solutions such as hard drives, micro drives and USB flash keys.
Of course, the Revolution may not really need much storage space – unlike its Sony and Microsoft rivals, Nintendo doesn’t seem to harbour any desires to turn its console into a home media hub type-deal. It’s all about the games, man.
