Who is Milo Manara

Maurillo Manara was born on the 12th of September,
1945 in Bolzano, small Italian town, near Austrian
border. Very quickly, Milo revealed as specially
talented for drawing and painting. In his fourteenth
year of life, in school, he illustrates pages of The
Iliad and The Odyssey. His vocation, the painting,
does not gave him income sufficient to live and in the
Sixties he found himself working in a toy factory and
helping artists, like the Berrocal Spanish who worked
near Verona. Those were the times when Eric Losfeld
published his most representative works. Barbarella,
Jodelle or Saga de Xam have not been unnoticed by
Milo's young person, who begins to be interested in
comics and in his 23rd year of life he published his
first title: Genius for a publisher (Furio Viano)
specialized in graphical narrations with the police
thing, sex and the violence like main ingredients.
There was moments, on the other hand, clearly
contestatarios in the University, where our author
studied Architecture. There, in Venice, he joined
mao?sta organization: “the Union of Youth” and
become a member of an artistic group, “Miraculo” that
was making political illustrations and posters,
playing a certain role in the confrontations with the
police in the Biennial of 1968.
