Positive Attitude
by John Roberts
A positive attitude can improve your body just as a healthy body improves your attitude.

Our attitudes control our lives. Attitudes are a secret power working 24 hours a day, for good or bad. It is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control this great force.

Within Buddhist practice, the cultivation of certain specific positive mental qualities such as patience, tolerance, kindness, and so on can act as specific antidotes to negative states of mind such as anger, hatred, and attachment. Applying antidotes such as love and compassion can significantly reduce the degree or influence of the mental and emotional afflictions.

If you don’t learn to maintain a positive attitude throughout your life, stronger and stronger as you grow older, you have missed a large part of what you could have done or enjoyed. You will never know how many people or situations turned their back on you, refusing to associate with negativism.
It is now certain, proven by medical trials, that positive, optimistic, cheerful, happy states of mind are likely to build stronger resistance to the illnesses that constantly test our defenses. They improve our physical condition and longevity through changes in the brain, immune system and other functions. This is one of the most important Cancer Fighters, especially so because it is within our control, if we have the will. It may not give us the miracle we seek, but it is one of the key weapons we can all wield in our long war of survival.
