Video phenomenon YouTube announced it has expanded its YouTube for Mobile website (m.youtube.com) for users. New changes include a larger database of mobile accessible video content and other YouTube personalization tools.
YouTube has partnered with many top wireless manufacturers, including Sony Ericsson, Motorola, LG, and Nokia, to bring YouTube Mobile to 3G capable handsets that support RTSP streaking. All the regular features found on YouTube's website, such as Favorites, Videos, Channels, and users' own personal accounts, can now be accessed directly from a mobile device's web browser. YouTube users can upload and share videos as well as make comments on or rate videos all while on the go.
YouTube also announced that it has begun offering a YouTube Mobile Java application that can be downloaded for free. The new app, which is currently in beta, is available to U.S. and UK English users only. The application is supported only by J2ME MIDP2 capable devices, which include a number of Nokia and Sony Ericsson cell phones, among others.
YouTube is hoping its new mobile application expansion will bring more users into its growing video community.
